Background
Overview
Costco's mobile app falls short of its cherished in-store experience, with ratings of just 2.2 stars on Apple Store and 3.2 on Google Play. Our project doesn't aim for a complete overhaul but seeks to address a vital gap in the current app experience. After analyzing the customer experience through user testing and research, we identified long-standing customer dissatisfaction with finding items in store. Our team's focus is on improving the mobile app by introducing in-app navigation for a smoother and more efficient Costco shopping experience.

Team tasks
  • Gathered research from current Costco members and their pain points.
  • Synthesized research data into personas, user journeys, and action items.
  • Sketched, wireframed, and prototyped multiple iterations of the application.
  • Created and used a style guide to inform design decisions.
  • Tested our fully prototyped design with users and determined future steps.

Pitch deck
Our team crafted a pitch deck to introduce our new feature. The design team improved slide coherence with added artifacts and edits. This deck also offers additional insights from our product managers and software developers regarding the project.

Promotional video
The design team made a fun little video to accompany this project. We wrote the script and used Adobe Premiere Pro to mesh the video together in order to advertise the new feature for the app. Please enjoy! 😊
